The NuvaRing is a combination birth control ring, inserted into the vagina for 3 weeks. While in place, it releases estrogen and progesterine, preventing pregnancy. The NuvaRing has been marketed as safer than HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and "the pill" because it offers low doses of hormones, but it has serious side effects including:
thromboembolic/trombotic disease
myocardial infaraction
heart attack
blood clots
vascular disease
